Hayley Stokar ’06
At Wesleyan, while doing a million other things from student theater to curatorial assistance at the Center for East Asian Studies, I was able to study American Sign Language and Spanish simultaneously, and intensively.
I have since become a social worker serving Deaf communities in Guatemala City, New York City, and Chicago, IL. At the non-profit where I work in Chicago, I lead a team of dedicated employment specialists who collaborate with area businesses and assist Deaf and hard of hearing individuals in finding sustainable work. Last year, the Illinois Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers recognized me with the 2012 Emerging Leader Award.
Without a doubt, my career path and my passion for my work started at Wesleyan. Wes is Why.
